Able to connect via Ethernet cable, but not wireless

Ever since upgrading to Windows 8.1 almost as soon as it came out, I've been having trouble with my wifi. There are many other devices in the house that can connect to the wireless with ease, but the wifi on my laptop has slowly stopped working. When I plug it into the router via an Ethernet cable, the connection is fine, and works perfectly. I can connect to my router, but is always limited.

I'd appreciate any advice I can get

Try updating the driver of your wireless card. If it already has the latest driver, try tweaking some of the settings.
