Abnormal High CPU Usage

After running Resident Evil 6 (which is apparently notorious for High CPU Usage issues), my computer keeps experiencing High CPU Usage on certain loading screens in other games, and also when I start Google Chrome where normally I wouldn't. It also seems that my internet connection has taken a hit since then as well, but it could be unrelated. I've tried a lot of things and can't find a solution.

My Specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50 GHz

GPU: AMD Radeon(TM) R9 390 Series

RAM: 16GB

(Can provide more info if needed)

Welcome to Tom's!
What motherboard do you have?

Hello! I'm not sure of the exact model number is there an easy way to check? I do know it's an MSI.

You could just open your case and look. It should be printed on the actual motherboard. Or you could download, install and run CPU-Z.

EDIT correct program name to CPU-Z

It's an MSI Z170A GAMING M5 (MS-7977)

The MSI Z170A has a Killer E2400 network interface. When this device is run with the standard WHQL drivers it causes a memory leak in the Windows kernel's non-paged pool that can only be resolved by rebooting the system.

That high CPU usage that you're seeing may be symptomatic of the OS having to juggle memory around. Please install the latest Killer LAN drivers from the Killer website and restart your computer.

This seems to have solved my internet related issues, but chrome is still using 100% cpu on startup, and idk if this is normal but System in the task manager is using 13% whenever I have OBS open, while obs itself only uses ~3%. Killer Network Service is also using 6% which seems like a lot for a background service. Idk how relevant any of this is, but I don't recall the numbers being like that previously.

About Google Chrome or the latter or both? Because Chrome definitely didn't do that before, and my CPU usage still seems higher in general, and is especially noticeable when trying to stream certain games that I have before. That's honestly the biggest inconvenience to me.
