About a cooler for i9 7940x

I want to upgrade my cpu to a i9-7940x and ofcourse i need x299(now i have x99)and right now i have 3.0 PERFORMER C THERMALTAKE cooler and in win g7 case(mid tower). Should i buy a different cooler for the new cpu or not? If yes which cooler should i buy?

You can make do with your current cooler if you delid the cpu and change the radiator fans to a better one like the ek vardar furious or corsair ML or LL series.
