About CPU Temperature Athlon X2 270

Hello all,

I just build my another new pc.Just get in BIOS to check CPU Temperature 54 C on Idle.So Downloaded HWmonitor to re Check temperature at start up & HWmonitor Showing 30 C for both cores.

My question is why der is a difference ? 54 to 30 ?

No option of what? I wasn't asking a question, explaining why BIOS shows higher temperatures. Cool'N'Quiet is a function of your processor that down-clocks it to save electricity and lower temperatures, but it only functions once a compatible OS and driver is loaded. It makes perfect sense that you would see lower temperatures once Windows is loaded, but it's best to determine why, not just assume they have to be correct.

HWMonitor can be wrong, but that doesn't mean it is in your case. If there is an offset on the sensors that HWMonitor is not aware of, it will show the temperatures without the offset, which would be the wrong temperature. It can also attribute the wrong sensor reading to the wrong component in the system.
Cool'N'Quiet does not function in BIOS to down clock the CPU. Thus, you get higher temperatures in BIOS because the chip is running at full throttle.

BIOS is software also, which is not a good reason for Windows programs to be inaccurate. BIOS is more accurate, as the motherboard manufacturer tends to know what each sensor is actually measuring and what offset needs to be applied to the readings.
 


Yes as a 1st impression I also believe on BIOS,But I think HWmonitor can not be wrong.May be Temp Increases when I get into BIOS & Temp Decreases on Windows Start up ?

I do not want to decrease my PC Performance,I just want an another solution.

 
This has nothing to do with PC performance. Processors are able to dynamically clock themselves based on workload. When your processor isn't being used, it is clocked down, when it is in use, it ramps up to full speed. It's a bit like pulling up to a stop light in your automobile. When you aren't moving, obviously you take your foot off of the gas and the RPMs of your engine are lower.
 


Just checked CPU-Z Readings MY processor Clock speed varies Automatically.From 900 MHz to 3.4 Ghz So I guess Latest Manufactured Athlon X2 270 Comes with Default Cool n quite Technology ?
 
Umm, both Intel and AMD have their own respective power saving technologies. They've been at it for well over ten years. There's no reason to worry about it reducing your computer's performance, but it easily explains why in Windows, which supports the power saving technology, your temperatures are lower, and why in BIOS, which runs the chip at full speed, temperatures are higher.

The feature can usually be switched off in BIOS, but about the only gain you'll see is in energy use and heat generated.
