about getting more ram

I need some help because i'm absolutely useless with this, so useless that i don't even know where to look for help incase something like this has been solved

I've got 3 pieces of ram all of which are 2GB 2Rx8 pc3-10600U-9-10-B0 and i want one more, i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that you should try to get new ram thats as close to what you've already got as possible so should i get this one?

its pretty cheap and i've got 4 seperate slots for ram on the other side of my motherboard so would it be a good idea to just buy 5 of those? my motherboard is a msi x79a-gd45 plus. would there need to be anything else i'd need to do other than putting those extra slots in?

You should get ram as close to the original as possible. There is no for sure way to tell that it will work. I would look at getting 2x8gb sticks or 4x4 it would be a larger boost over adding another 2gb stick.

also so we aren't confused, i'd put that 8gb stick in my computer along with the 2gb sticks, would that be ok?

Any time you mix DRAM it's a crapshoot, there are no guarantees. Not even if you get the same exact model of sticks. Best to buy a single package of the full amount you want and sell the old sticks or put them in another rig

in that case i'll just get some multiple new ram, i'm assuming when i do my computer isn't just going to crap itself because of the new stuff
