well, it seems like everything else you have is good to keep so you are obviously looking for only a new motherboard and cpu. first, i'll warn you i am biased towards AMD, although i admit that the pentium 3 is an option to consider. for price and performance, AMD is the way to go. you mentioned a kt133 based motherbaord, but you mistakenly said you were looking at a slot-a cpu. the kt133 chipset is for socket-a only. for the price, an overclocked duron system is probably the least expensive option, but if you want the extra power of the thunderbird, up to 900mhz seems to be the good spot for price (since the price jumps quite a bit after that). as far as a motherboard, the general opinion is that the asus a7v or the abit kt7 are the two best boards out there. however, to save some money, a lot of people are having success with the msi board and i really like my epox ep-8kta+. any questions...?

Hello Thanks for your answer...!
as you see I want to buy a new Mainboard and processor, but More information I read about mainboard and procesor I read, more confused Iam (sorry for the english.
I have some question, for example...
A friend say: "Athlon have a 200Mhz fron side bus" this is true?
How I can identify a Thunderbird processor from old Athlon processor?
What is better and faster PIII or Athlon ? (at same speed)

Masaki

Yes, 100mhz X 2. The Thunderbird is a socket A chip with all the cache memory on the chip. The older slot A Athlons had the cache on two chips on the slot A board. All new Athlons will be socket A next year. Do not buy a slot A. The T-bird will beat the P3 in just about every benchmark. You will also pay less money for it. My best friend is a P3 lover with a 667 P3. It runs great. I have an 800mhz T-bird. It runs fine too. The T-birds are supposed to run hotter. Mine runs cooler than the 667 P-3. I would buy the 933 Pentium 3 or the 900 T-bird. I think either one will suit you just fine for minimum bucks.

Thunderbirds, compared to Coppermines of the same speed, tend to have higher performance and cheaper too.
