Hello, I have a Server PC for HDD and my PSU does not support any more, I want to put an external source without modifying it, but they tell me if I feed a HDD with an external source I will have problems with the 5 volts of the SATA connector of the MotherBoart, which makes me wonder If I configure the SATA on the board as external SATA, what happens?

You can use an adapter like this to power your HDD externally.

Hard drives start running as soon as there are 5V & 12V power, they don't care where the power comes from.
