Question About stanby mode.

Probably a stupid question but here goes. Just finished my build. My computer went into sleep mode, and when I moved the mouse, the mouse lit up but didnt turn on the computer and the fans etc had stopped. I had to press the power button as it was flashing to wake it up. Is there anywhey to change this ? Also I wanted to know while in standby, if possible can I keep my downloads going in the background, they seem to stop till it wakes up and the screen comes back on. Hope this makes sense, thanks

Standby/sleep mode is always crappy - always buggy.
Just leave it on or switch it off - simplist thing
