My brother calls my attention to the fact that Unigine Superposition benchmark identifies my Nitro RX 590 as a 580. Is it common for benchmarks to screw that stuff up? Or is the 590 just a 580 with a pretty blue cover. Greg N

Yeah its a little more complicated...I might have exaggerated a bit. But 12 nm aside it is just an advantage in clockspeed.

There's also the faster memory. The memory speed will confirm if you have a genuine RX590. (GPUz reports memory clock as well as the Radeon software.)

The 590 was fab'd at a different facility. It runs hotter, but also overclocks a lot better. Default ~10% gains over the stock 580 are not an issue. With adequate cooling you might be ~15% gains.
