I have spent a long time compiling my system. I am about to place an
order and want to run it by the people in this newsgroup first. I
would appreciate any comments or suggestions that you all may have to
offer.

Although I have one 512K stick of the Kingston Ram on your wish list,
it is not recommended by ASUS as the CAS latency is 3. I have not
had any problems running the CAS 3 memory (2600+ TB) at 2Ghz,
but I haven't OverClocked or used dual channel mem or played resorce
hungry games.

You've got a bottomless wallet, right? ;-)

Drop down to the 2.8Ghz processor and save $41. You should be able to
overclock it for more. Then take that saved money and buy a better cooler
for the CPU. This one works well but make sure it will fit because it is
large. Also make sure you don't get the all copper version as it is VERY
heavy (over the spec for P4).

Consider adding or upgrading the CD-RW to a DVD+-RW. This one is popular:

Consider 2 PATA drives (DMA133) instead of the single 160GB SATA to shadow
it on the Promise controller. Got two of these and they are quiet.

Didn't see keyboard or mouse. Got this and love it:

Didn't see memory or video card... Would consider a matched set for 1GB
total. I got Mushkin and ATI.


Didn't see a sound card. MB does have onboard sound but some don't like it.
Can always be added later.
