About to pull trigger on first SSD but how many GB's do I need? (Gaming)

Hello,

I'm about to purchase this SSD as I am currently using 280GB and 700GB HD's.

Given all the pro's of making the switch to SSD I figured it should be worth the money. What I'm not clear about is how much storage I need and whether I should replace both or just one of the HD's?.

The one I linked is 480GB and I'm currently using 500/700GB of my HD for video games (A lot of which I haven't played in years). The other 280GB is @ 90% capacity with just windows and a few computer maintenance programs.

With that said, is 480GB enough? Should I be using the SSD for my games or should I be using it for windows and leaving the games on an HD?

Thanks!

I use a 480GB but you can only have X games installed at a time.

Most people do use a platter as a buffer of some kind. Especially if your gaming rig is also used to download movies and such; you're going to want a platter to store it.

Nothing says you can't keep all your existing platters AND use the SSD!

No movies or anything of the sort. Yeah my intention was to keep all "old" games that require almost nothing to run on the old HD and use the SSD for the most up to date and GPU intense games.
