About to RMA my GTX 780

This is going to be my last attempt at finding a solution for this, since I have posted asking about this on numerous forums, and repeatedly called evga. So here it goes:

I just built my PC with the following specs:

Asus z97-a mobo
EVGA GTX 780 3 gig
I5 4670k

My problem is that whenever I attach a tv using hdmi to the video card, the audio is severely distorted. It *sometimes* behaves well, but rarely. Oddly enough, for the last ten days, I would notice that restarting the computer once after an initial boot would fix the issue, but this was a rather patchwork-like fix, and now the issue persists no matter what I do.

What I have tried:

Different HDMI cable
Different TV (to make sure the problem isn't the tv)
Different drivers for the video card
No drivers at all for the video card
Using just the mobo (there is no issue when I use just the mobo HDMI)
Adjusting the audio quality via control panel to different hertz.
Updating firmware of my tv
Different BIOS drivers
Lastly, there is no issue if I use a 3.5 mm headphone, or a USB headset.

So, if anyone knows anything about this you'd be doing me a huge favor.

I'd also suspect your graphics card.

Can you try a monitor with speakers via hdmi?

Can you try vga/dvi to tv plus speakers in to the tv seperately?

The tv I am trying to get it to work on does have speakers, as did the others I tested the card with

And no I cannot try the second option

I cannot. It sucks, I know, but I'm trying everything I can to eliminate all other variables. The reason I tried a different TV, speaker, cable, etc., was to narrow down the possibilities.

I've even tried completely reinstalling windows. The issue still persists.

I just don't get why restarting the computer sometimes fixes it. Everything points to a hardware issue, except that. Why would a restart *sometimes* fix it?

Well, I managed to try the card in a different pc by going to a local pc store

And it worked fine there

So what is the issue? The mobo?

That's what I'd try next - another mobo. I gather you can rma the Asus Z97-A. Just means doing without your pc for a while.
