Hardware newbie here... Hi! So I would like to join my friends that are playing Overwatch and my current rig is below the Blizzards recommendations for smooth gameplay. Even if I could play it with my current rig, some other newer games wont run on it and I feel like I need to upgrade it. Also I have been having some problems with booting the system, long use and max GPU usage. I'll explain these problems in detail and I am hoping a kind soul could help me with those.
My current rig (My friend and I put it together 5y3m ago):
-Intel i5 2500k 3,3GHz (some decent cooler on it)
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
-ASRock P67 Extreme4 Motherboard
-8GB of Corsair RAM
-Power: XFX PRO850W
-120GB SSD for system + 120GB SSD for games
-win10
Problem 1:
This has to do with GPU I suppose... After having the computer on for approximately a day the screen freezes and if volume was on the playback device goes nuts, like it loops the last 0.1 seconds of the audio coming out. (sounds like a machinegun) I guess this is my GTX 570 crashing. This has nothing to do with overheating since this happens whether or not my fans are at 100% or 45% and this could happen even if nothing much was happening GPU-wise. It feels like that the longer the rig has been on the higher the probability of this kind of GPU shut-down is.
Problem 2:
The other problem is just GPU overheating in the middle of my game and requiring a moment to cool off before I can boot the system again. First time this happened (2 years ago IIRC) I couldn't start the computer for whole 15 mins and thought that was the end of it. (This has been pretty irritating since I have lost many ranked games in CS:GO because of this 😛)
Problem 3:
This has to do with the start up after my computer has been unused for a while. When I boot my computer it shows the motherboards BIOS screen and then proceeds to load win10. The revolving balls appear (win10 loadscreen) and do couple of rounds and then freeze. After this I get the message that the win10 couldn't load and that "we will restart for you" (which btw never happens and I have to reboot from power button.) After couple of repeats or just letting my computer to "warm up" the revolving balls don't freeze and windows loads correctly and I end up to login screen.
I have no idea which component to blame for this. SSD, motherboard, GPU, wiring? idk...
Problem 4:
Edit:

Another problem with the start up that I countered 2 weeks ago the first time. My system isn't able to find my wanted boot device. I have gone to BIOS several times to switch my system SSD as the primary boot-up device but time after time it tries to boot on my other SSD. Every time I start my computer I have to press F11 to manually choose the correct device for booting. Or maybe I'm just a retard and have done something wrong...[/strike]
Solved this on my own. As it turns out I was an idiot
Problem 5:
Noise problem. I have located this annoying whirring sound to the fan of my power supply. It sounds like the fan is a little loose and is hitting things it shouldn't hit. Although this could be an easy fix I'm too newbie to dare to open the power supply (I might break something) and it doesn't bother me when I have my headphones on so I have left it at that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to the upgrading part. I have several different options that I could choose in terms of upgrading... I could:
1. Upgrade only the GPU. Say I would buy Nvidia's GTX 1070 or 1060. This would solve the problems with my older GPU.
2. Upgrade GPU and motherboard. AMDs rx480 and some newer motherboard. This because I just recently heard that the rx480 6pin version (8pin yet to be released) can turn the system off with older motherboards (is my motherboard too old? idk) since it might draw more power from the PCI than from the 6pin. Also if you think there's something wrong with my motherboard it would be better to buy new one anyway.
3. Any other necessary upgrades? What do you guys think? Anything else I need to know when making this kind of upgrade (compatibilty etc.)?
Thanks in advance guys.
