The adapter was the same voltage and amperage (9V, 300 MA) except it was AC. I had it in and pressed power on for a few seconds and heard a pop. I realized the error and used the DC adapter but it didn't turn on. I then put in batteries and it turned on. Later in the day i used DC adapter and it worked.
Next day nothing worked.
Was it just a last gasp before component failure? I suppose it is probably beyond my abilities to rescue it? Or is there a best guess for components that may have been damaged and possibly replaced? If the cost/time to fix is over $150, then it wouldn't be worthwhile.
