Question AC charger keeps disconnecting

I have a HP Omen 15 from 2022 which wont charge properly while gaming. If i play games, the ac charger will work for around 5 mins, then disconnect and the laptop runs off battery. To make it charge again i have to unplug the charger from the wall outlet, not just from the laptop, or it won't charge again which I find extremely strange. I have used this laptop quite a lot since I purchased it, however I would have thought that the battery wouldn't break so soon. I did previously use a charger with too low wattage for a few months which may have caused damage to the battery, but I'm not sure, the new charger I have is definitely OK and passed the ac adapter test . I have tried lots and lots of different fixes on the internet but nothing worked at all. Any help would be appreciated as it is extremely frustrating. Also if anyone can tell me how to check if the battery needs replacing that would be useful.

What adapter did you use? yes it could be a root cause to the issue.

You could see if your laptop is pending any BIOS updates though if the issue persists, you might need to RMA the laptop as the prior adapter might've conked out part of the power delivery on the laptop's motherboard.

sorry for the slow reply, the bios is updated, and I was using a 120w adapter and this laptop is 200w which could have broke stuff, the only issue is the warranty has expired. The weird thing is some days it stays connected for ages and some days it disconnects from AC when gaming within minutes, which is weird because surely it would be consistent if it was a hardware issue idk though, I dont know enough about laptops

I've just been trying to test something, when I underclock the GPU on msi afterburner it fixes the issue, could this mean its the adapter still? It is rated 200w for the laptop but it isnt the original one.
