AC Freezer 7 Pro vs stock cooler for i7 4790

I recently purchased i7 470k CPU. I'm not planning on overclocking it (may be jut a little bit), but still would like to install aftermarket cooler. I have a 4 years old AC freezer 7 pro cooler, but I've heard that it was designed only for dual-core CPUs... Any idea if it will do a better job then stock i7 cooler?

Yes, it will do better. It has real heat pipes and a bigger heat sink. Back when that was new, dual cores were hot running CPUs. Your 84W i7 is cooler running than most dual cores were back then.

Mine is original freezer 7 pro not rev. 2, but looks like it fits lga1150.

Unfortunately, its not rev.2, but looks like it fits...

Try the cooler mounting hdwr and see if the spacing is right. I can never remember which ones are interchangeable and which aren't. I think the old 775 spacing is the odd man out.
