Acceptable Temperature?

Hi everyone,
I just got a new rig. here's the details:
Athlon XP 1.6ghz
512MB pc-2700
Asus a7v333
Thermaltake Volcano 7 fan
120GB WD 8MB cache
Leadtek GF4 TI-4600

There are EIGHT fans running in this system! 2 intake, 2 exhaust, 1 in the PS, 1 on the CPU and 2 on the vid card. so needless to say, its quite loud - but that's ok cause so is the sound system 😉 My question is: what is an acceptable temperature? "Stock" its running at 52 degrees celsius. Is this too high? I hear 32 degrees is ideal, and i'm almost double that with 8 friggin fans!! anyway, after overclocking the FSB to 143/43 my temperature remained the same (52 degrees)and I achieved a clock of 1.71 ghz (not bad!). Since there was no apparent change in temperature, is it safe for me to continue running at this clock? can i go higher? will i fry my cpu??

On another note, I hear that AMD does NOT recommend Volcano fans, as they are very heavy and risk tearing the socket right off the board... Is this a legitimate concern or simply anti-overclocking propaganda? If it IS a potential problem, what are some possible solutions? Can I just anchor the big ass Volcano fan to the power supply?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

That is a high temp for so many fans. Do you have rounded cables and did you use Arctic Silver when mounting the heatsink? Or is your room temperature high?

If you have eight fans then the tempurature shouldn't be at 52ºC. Unless your room is very hot. Wow maybe you should get a fan that blos air out of the case. That wouild help. it did for me. Or u acn leave the case off lol haha... your chose

BTW I have 14 fans in my system. My old sig used to be:
My case has so many fans that it hoovers above the ground 😱 .

thats certainly high for the amount of fans you have, but how warm is your room? no matter how many fans you have, the temp is relative to room temp. As mentioned tho, the asus proble is known to read about 10C higher, try mbm5.

If they squeeze olives to get olive oil, how do they get baby oil?

It's probably due to the variable speed fan on the Volcano 7. It's probably turning at the slowest speed. What are the cutoff temperatures for fan speed changes?

I'm using the V7 myself and it has a thermal sensor that reacts to any temp change. The slowest it is supposed to run is around 2500 RPM's. Using a lighter, I had the fan spinning up around 5200 RPM's. Sounded like the proverbial Boeing 777 taking off. The only mod I did to it was took the fan off to tuck the sensor down into the HS so it would react more to the CPU temp than the case temp. It hovers around 3200 RPM's. Also, upgraded the BIOS from 1007.002 beta to 1007 Final. This allowed my system to recognize the voltage settings and run at 1.75v instead of 1.88v. Lots cooler now.

Believe only half of what you read and none of what you hear! Unless it's in THGC forum.
