Access GoFlex Home personal folder via USB ATA in Windows or Mac

I have a GoFlex home drive where the amber light is constantly blinking in the base. I am able to sign in to the dashboard however when I go into any of the folders they are all empty. I have removed the drive from the enclosure and connected it via USB ATA cable and it's recognized in both MAC OS and Windows 10 and I am able to see the files and folders that were stored in the "GoFlex Home Public" folder.

Is there a way I can log in to the drive via this USB connection in Windows or MacOS using my admin credentials to access the files that were associated with my account (GoFlex Home Personal folder)? I've been reading through the forum and I keep seeing references to Linux. There a utility that will allow me to sign on so I can gain access to and recover the files?

I would begin by examining the SMART report in CrystalDiskInfo:

Look for reallocated, pending or uncorrectable sectors.
