I have a new access point that works when connected directly to my router. But, it does not work (link light does not even light up) when connected to my wall port. My laptop works both when it is connected directly to the router and when connected to the wall port. Any ideas?

Solution
From your description there are only two places to be looking:

  1. The patch cables from wall to router and wall to PC/access point.
  2. The wall port/s and the wiring in the walls running between them.

It's entirely possible for a port/cable to work with one device and not another. Happens every day.

If all 4 pairs are not tightly punched down on the wall ports you can have all sorts of problems. Especially if non standards compliant components were used. Same goes for patch cables.
