Access to lsptop drive over network?

I have a desktop running XP Pro and a laptop running W98. They are
connected to my network via my router.

I have previously setup file sharing. When I am on the XP system and I
use Windows Explorer to expand "My Network Places" it lists the
laptop's C partition. It does not list the laptop's D partition.

I can type in Windows Explorer address field "\\Laptop\d" and it then
lists the D partition and I have access to it.

What do I need to do to have it automatically list the D partition of
the laptop under "My Network Places"?

In My Network Places > Entire Network > Microsoft Windows Network >
{name of workgroup} find the laptop. Open another Explorer window,
open My Network Places here. Drag the D drive from the first window to
the second window to create the shortcut.

On the XP system, when I go to My Network Places > Entire Network >
Microsoft Windows Network I find it has the workgroup name Mshome,
but only my XP desktop (PGFXP1) is shown.

"C on Thinkpad (Laptop)" is shown connected to My Network Places >
Entire Network .



The laptop is running W98. On it, when I go to Network Neighborhood >
Entire Network > Mshome, I see Laptop with c,d , and shareddocs.

I also see Laptop with c, d, and shareddocs hanging off Network
Neighborhood.

Does this provide and clues as to what is wrong?

You may want to re-run the Network Setup Assistant on both machines to
fix this.
