Question Accessing recovery disk

I'm guessing this is a "systems" question.
I have 2 PCs and a laptop we no longer use. I want to give them to charity, but before I do that, I think I need to wipe the HP to get rid of personal info. I know how to wipe a HD.
All three devices have a recovery partition. After wiping the HDs, how do I use the recovery partition? None seem to have an EXE

is that recovery partition from manufacturer or just that default windows recovery partition?
if its from windows then you just fail to boot three times and windows recovery will begin, its basicly windows boot media but without windows image, so no installation available from there, just recovery

My goal is to wipe all data on the default C: drive and reinstall Windows. Does the recovery partition do that? All 3 devices had the recovery partition at purchase.

recovery partition wont do that unless there is recovery image

The partition is labeled "recovery image." Once I've wiped the C: drive, how do I restore windows from the recovery image?

Oops. One of them is just labeled "Recovery." How can I tell if it's an image, and if not, what are my options?
