OK, so I installed a new boot drive (a Kingston A400 240GB) and have windows installed on it. And when I try to get permission for my other preexisting account (the actual \users\Admin) from my hard drive, it locks me out saying access is denied. I'm the owner and Admin for both instances of the OS and want to know how I can get access to the \Admin from my SSD's version of windows.

What do you want to do? Access files or login as a user that is on the other drive?

Even if you use same user name and login on both PC, windows can still tell it is not the same user that created the files. What Windows uses as your username and what it displays are 2 different things, its likely a code string so that your user on 1 PC is unique to your same user on another PC.

If you will be booting from the HDD windows then you need to add you current Uswer and give yourself at least read, write, & modify access.
If not then you can just take control of the folder. This is what I have/do. I'm not sure if it works under win10. I'm still on 7 and fighting 10. LoL

I want to access the user files from the HDD on my SSD, but I'm blocked by a permission request and I'm trying to play it safe. More specifically, I want the appdata folder and what's in it.
