I recently purchased an i5 4670k with an ASUS z87-a about a week ago. In my overclock attempt to raise the voltage to 1.18, I hit 1.8 by mistake (stupid me, yes, I know..). Upon restart to implement changes I did receive the overvoltage CPU error in the BIOS load screen and instantly changed my voltage back to safe ranges.
Now, I went back to a very conservative overclock and ran Prime95 - crashed within minutes. I restarted my CMOS and get the same results.
I'm assuming I partially damaged my CPU. Is there a chance that I partially damaged my motherboard? Is there any way to test my compenents individually without trying a different CPU to remove any variables?
Thanks guys.
