Accidentally deleted files

I deleted my friends assignment from her USB by mistake. Its not in my trash and not in my history as I didn't open it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Whatever you do, do not write anything back to the USB drive until you are 100% sure that the file is recovered. It would be best to make a full sector-by-sector image of the drive and then work from that image. But, shy of that, you can try to find the files with data recovery software. If you are lucky, you may be able to quickly recover the files in their deleted state using R-Studio. It will depend on the file system used and what kind of device the external drive is (ie, USB hard drive or USB thumb drive).

Have you checked some of the recovered files to make sure they can be read from and written to by the programs that created them? Or, if pics, audio, video, will audio/visual programs actually display or play them?
