Hello, I'm a little paranoid about things like this, as I'm new to PC gaming, having migrated from consoles, (PS4), to a GTX 970 build, as I'm aware, the GTX 970 rekt the PS4 in terms of raw processing power.
My concern is of the GTX 970 graphics card, as I had decided that I'd have a look in MSI Afterburner to get an idea of the potential for an overclock, (for when I receive the Cooler Master 212 Evo in the mail), and so I decided I wanted to get an idea of the sound of the fans when they're at 100%.
After adjusting to the sound for a minute, I decided to turn it back to normal, and so I put it back on auto settings, but I had left the slider at 100% -- the speed went back to automatic, but when I turned on my PC a few hours later and launched Killing Floor 2, the fan speed went back to 100, and I totally forgot what was causing it. Over the next day or so, the GPU fans were running at full speed, and as annoying as it was, I put up with it for quite a duration of time.
Will having had the GPU fans at 100% for just over a day actually impact the lifespan of the GPU in any way whatsoever? If so, how much does it affect it, or am I just being an overly paranoid noob?
CPU is an FX 6300 six core, which I plan to overclock to 4.1GHz, but still, it's said that 4.1GHz still bottlenecks the GPU. Soon I'll also be getting a 1440p monitor for the full potential of the GPU, so that's why I was testing the full speed.
I'm now fully aware of what the issue was, and I've corrected it, but my concern is if having "had" the GPU fan speed at 100% for a day, would that have already done damage or degraded its lifespan in any way already? I won't let this mistake happen again, as I know about it now.
Thanks for your help
