Accidentally merged desktop and user folder, and cant reset windows 10.

On my SSD, I accidentally moved my desktop folder and replaced my user folder, and i cannot reset windows (there was a problem resetting this PC). I tried using a USB to replace windows on my SSD (windows was already running on it), but it said i cannot install windows on its partition.

Have you tried a fresh install of windows 10 (you'll loose whatever you haven't backed up already of course)?

It wasn’t an accident either. Folders don’t merge themselves

Try running system restore and see if any dates you can roll back to before you made the mistake. It should fix it.

Can you reboot and get into Safe Mode? If so you can backup content and then proceed to reinstall OS, provided the suggestion made by my colleague doesn't work out.

@op. If you not sure how to access system restore, search for Restore in cortana. Choose the option "create a restore point" and if system restore is on, the button marked "System restore" will let you pick a date to roll back to

What shows in the Desktop folder? User obviously works since you logged in still?
