I don't know if this is a windows issue or not. Occasionally when highlighting text to copy or cut, instead of highlighting the text the cursor drops a URL right in the middle of where I'm trying to highlight. Sometimes it's a very extensive URL, and I've got to find both ends and delete it. I can't reproduce this, but it happens a lot on it's own. Does anyone know if it's a shortcut I'm inadvertently using or maybe a mouse macro? It drives me insane but if I can't make it do it then I don't know what to turn off to prevent it.

Solution
I don't know of a prevention unless you can figure out the cause. However CTRL-Z should undo it (CTRL-Z is the shortcut for undo).
