I know this is stupid but i did plug the USB 2.0 (from my case) to motherboard.
(Actually it was ""Case USB 3.0 > USB3.0 to 2.0 Adapter > Motherboard IEEE 1394)
I smell burnt when i turn on my pc. Then i turned it off and realized what I did.

After that I can operate my computer normally except my USB port on my case and back I/O. All USB ports cannot connect to anything. Mouse and keyboard are fine. Phone or other thing else cannot not be connected through USB port as it said "unknown device" in device manager.
In the device manager, all USB port are shown normally so I don't know if I actually fired it or what. Also, when I mistakenly plugged the USB to IEEE, my Iphone was connected to my PC. Now, my phone battery cannot be charged. (it can when it is turned off. Weird)

I just want to know Do I REALLY burn all my USB ports, including back I/O?

That killed the USB2.0/3.0 ports, or even the IEEE1394 port too.
IEEE1394 port can provide up to 30V and 1.5A , the USB port can be used about 5V and 0.5-0.9A. And I don't how you can plug the USB into the IEEE1394, because they have different shapes too.

Actually they are the same but with different color.
I want to know if it also means that I burned my back I/O USB port, as well as my case? Now when I connect another phone to my USB port in my through case USB or back I/O, it shows that the battery is charging but no device is shown in device manager. My case is brand new too 🙁

Can a new motherboard solve all these problems ?

Yes. Still baffling how you jacked in a USB to a FireWire port. There had to be a ton of resistance... Then again I have seen Ethernet cables crammed into modem ports and Dsub connectors forced in upside down.

Just know next time that if it's not going in easily, it's likely wrong.

Am guessing plugged in the wrong header on the Mobo.

OP, a new Mobo solves your problem? *maybe* Look at the USB connector on the case itself, do you see any active components? (resistors, transistor, diodes etc etc), if yes those maybe jacked up too. If no active components, the a new Mobo should fix your problem.

U getting power doesn't mean it's OK. There is power, and there is the electronic for data transmission and you need both for a fully working USB. BUT like I said, you can just ignore it and buy a $10 USB card from eBay.

Hi

Are your keyboard and mouse ps/2 (round connectors )?
Or USB which are working in these blown USB ports

If you boot from a Linux live cd or DVD or USB ? Disk
Then insert a USB memory stick into various front and rear ports to see if they work or not?
(Find out if windows USB drivers are corrupted )

Have front USB now plugged into correct motherboard sockets?
Are front USB v3 or both v2 & v3?

What CPU & motherboard do you have?
Got a cheap 40 or 50 usd $ motherboard and may be worth replacing rather than diagnostics & repairing

All front USB is USB 3.0. My mouse is using the back panel USB port and it works fine. I am using ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard and I7-920 CPU. I think this is just too old to repair.
