Okay my computer is a Qosmio X870 with 8 gigs of ram, an Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor and it's running windows 8 (not 8.1).
I haven't been able to get my computer to update in any way since I got it, which I am in the midst of troubleshooting, and I came across this thread and followed danny2000's instructions, and it royally screwed up my computer. After restarting, none of my programs that normally start automatically did, and most of my programs, Google Chrome included, can't start without me running them as an administrator.
When I went back and tried to reverse what I had done, I ended up with an error message every time that said "An object with the following name cannot be found: "all applications packages". Check the selected object types and locations for accuracy and ensure that you have typed the object name correctly, or remove this object from the selection."
This happens every time, in each of the folders his comment told me to try.
I really need help, as I cannot continue fixing my computer, or doing much of anything with it, until I have permissions again.
