Accidentally uninstalled graphics card from device manager

I've recently have gotten a new laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad T540p) for lightly playing Sims 3 and school work, the only problem is, the game kept crashing due to my graphics card just failing. I then figured out that the graphics card was hidden within my device manager and basically just wasn't
active. When I went into the properties, "code 45" popped up. The code said that the device wasn't connected, so I updated it. But the update did nothing, so I went on to the next option: DIY google fixes from previous forums. Turns out, tons of people have this problem.

The problem is, the forums nonchalantly tell you to uninstall and then reinstall into device manager, which I did.. Thinking that my laptop would miraculously help me out for once.. Only problem is, the Nvidia set up/installer states that I do not have compatible hardware (WHICH I DO. THE GRAPHICS CARD IS IN MY LAPTOP.) The graphics card that is integrated within my laptop is Nvidia Quadro K2100m. I'm freaking out because I have looked at every forum and tried everything and it's not popping up anywhere.

I am open to doing a system recovery if I have to. (Although, it would make it go back to windows 7
:/) This is a fairly new laptop so I don't have anything too valuable on it yet except sims 3 CC, which can easily be redownloaded.

System Specs:
Lenovo ThinkPad T540p
Processor: Intel Core i5-4300M CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59GHz
RAM: 8 gb
System type: 64-bit
Only display adapter showing in device manager: Intel HD Graphics 4600
Previous display adapters: Intel HD Graphics 4600 & Nvidia Quadro k2100m

Please help before I have an emotional breakdown.
Thank you,
Jerrianne

If you have system recovery enabled on your computer, you should not lose anything work related or games related provided you dont go too far back. Try to do a windows system restore to just before the time when you removed the driver.

Option two: the actual quadro drivers from the Lenovo website should install just fine. Try not using the Nvidia site, as it may or may not work. If you do use the nvidia website, make sure you select the correct OS and the correct laptop quadro GPU before downloading the driver. You could also try this after the official lenovo driver is installed first.

On a side note:
In device manager have you tried searching for new devices? Perhaps your GPU does not show up where you are looking for it. Perhaps it is under unknown devices or something other than video adapters.

Laptops, especially the quadro ones are know not to play nice with Nvidia drivers directly from nvidia. Not sure why this is, I personally want to be able to use the official Nvidia drivers and grateful that my Asus laptop allows me to do that.

Thank you for the reply! I went into system recovery and it's back. Although, I'm at square one with the real issue. The Nvidia graphics card is still a "hidden device" in my device manager under display adapters. When I click to update it, it'll search online and say that it has downloaded, but it doesn't effect it in anyway. When I go into properties, the "Device Status" states that the device is not connected (Code 45.) Not very sure why this is? Some people have this trouble if they have two graphic cards (Which I do. I have an Intel HD Graphics 4600)

How can I make this graphics card active without having to send in my laptop or disassemble it?

Thank you,
Jerrianne
