My Acer Aspice 4736z laptop is more than 5 years old. The battery does not hold even a single second of charge anymore, but the rest was working fine.
The laptop started shutting off automatically since a few days ago. Now it does not even start properly and shuts down in the middle of the boot process. I wanted to ensure that there was no problem with the software, so I formatted the hard disk and re-installed windows (I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, by the way). The problem persists even after re-installing Windows.
I have tried booting it after removing the battery as well. I am still unable to go past the boot screen. I wanted to check if there was a time bound effect, e.g. laptop is shutting off after 2-3 minutes, so I started the laptop, entered BIOS settings and just left it there. The laptop was on even after 20 minutes.
So it seems that it is shutting down when booting into Windows. Any idea what I can do?
