Hello! I was thinking of an interesting idea, upgrading a Laptop Motherboard. Now before you go and say no, let me explain.
I currently have a Acer Aspire 5750-6414, Core i5 2450M, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD, only thing left is this "upgrade" if it works.
There was another version of this motherboard inside the laptop described above. It is the same form facter, same cpu socket (this came with an i7, but they are able to be taken out!) but, has a NINVDIA chip on the mainboard. Now if you see my motherboard model, you see that same spot, but with no NIVIDA chip and ram modules. Also the name is the 5750G, G I'm guessing for gaming
Here is the plan...
Buy the 5750G motherboard, remove old motherboard, and use my i5 currently. Other items I need to buy are; New cooler (for the NVIDIA Chip, and a new power supply).
My only questions and concerns are,
1. First off, will this even work?
2 Will the battery be able to power the new components?
3. Has anyone attempted this?
Mad you might say? :pt1cable:
Thanks!

I do not know if the mobos are the exact same shape for this. The battery can power the components, but there may be a different battery charging circuit. A bad charging circuit causes hover boards to go up in flames. I am sure someone may have tried this when they had a dead mobo, but they needed to decide are they going to buy a part or a new laptop. First, how much will this cost you and will it be reliable? I do not see Acer as the most reliable, so just make sure you are not wasting money on something that will not last long. Your laptop is going for $200-$300 on ebay used. Also, the gpu is not that powerful if you translate this page you can see how it does not game well in benchmarks...

p.s the eurocom m3 is $645 after %10 student discount and has a way better cpu+gpu with reliable hardware.
