Question Acer aspire 8930G

Why are you obsessed with comparing performance, the question wasn't answered but yet met with competition instead. I knew this site was obsolete

Because we do not like to see people waste money. I have an old 4th gen HP that has an upgradeable Quadro GPU, but it would not offer any benefit, today, so I left it alone. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. If there are available upgrade options, you have to look up the model number, on the manufacturer's website.

It's that thought process that's obsolete, not this site. First of all, you are not going to find a compatible graphics adapter for that laptop that isn't already used, because those stopped being manufactured a LONG time ago and anything that is newer than the same Gen graphics adapter it has is not going to work because it will not have BIOS support.

Second of all, Logain is 100% correct when he says that upgrading the graphics in that device will literally do nothing for you because even if you COULD make something newer work in it, it would be so badly bottlenecked by the processor and bus system in that very old machine that it would literally be like you didn't upgrade at all. Well, you might see a small bump in performance, but then again, you might not, because the cooling system in that laptop was designed for much older, lower TDP hardware, and would likely be in a constant state of throttle with newer hardware, if you could even get it to work, which you can't.

There's nothing "black" about it. It's simply unrealistic. Can it be done? Sure. Is it worth it, not in the least. For what it would cost to do what you want, IF you could even find the parts, you could likely buy a whole different laptop much newer with far better performance and no need to upgrade.

It's like trying to find a cylinder head for a 1940's Chevy truck. Except that, in the case of the truck, once replaced you have something of value that was worth the investment. With the age of this laptop, it would literally be like spending a few hundred dollars to gain 5fps because that's about what you'd gain with any upgraded graphics adapter you could find, IF you could find one that was still in reliable condition, so you'd sink a few hundred dollars into a part that gives you almost nothing in return when that same investment could buy you an entirely different device with many times better performance than you could EVER have from that device regardless of what upgrades you did to it.

Seems a lot more like just not liking the reality of the situation than it does anybody turning a question black.

I can buy any gpu I like for this laptop for £10 each, the original question which nobody seems to be able to answer what's the fastest one it'll take. Non of you understand, non of you know why but the question is to difficult than followed by irrelevant stories.
