Hi.
Please, I really need a real hero here. 🙁
I bought a new laptop - Acer Aspire E1-522. It has built-in HD webcam.
But I installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, overwrite the whole partition.
Now, the camera didn't work. It says "To get started, connect a camera".
My device manager doesn't have the option for webcam. So basically, no error.
I installed the driver for the webcam and restarted, no changes.

Strange. Need help. Please..

Solution
When you re-installed a new version of Windows, you failed to realize that all the device drivers and chipset drivers had already been installed by Acer. Installing a new version wiped all that out. Installing the web cam drivers isn't enough. You need to also install drivers for the bus that handles the web cam.

Contact Acer, and get all the drivers that are required. Windows doesn't automatically recognize everything. You have to get the drivers from Acer. ALL the drivers for that model, not just the ones you think you need.

Hi,

No I haven't contact Acer yet. But the webcam works on Windows 8, previously. And I have this error in my device manager - Unknow USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)

Does that have something to do with the webcam failure? :-/
