Acer Aspire ES 14 power light orange instead of blue

Hi, My Acer aspire ES 14 laptop right now is currently going through a problem where a few days ago the power light when your power the laptop on changed into orange instead of blue and switches back and forth in between those colors and stays in blue after the whole time the laptop is on and yes, it's been doing that every time I power it on. But as of currently, there's some cases where it will suddenly just change color(Especially after waking it up from sleep mode) to orange and to blue again and sometimes being both orange/blue at the same time together. I'm seeking help as to what this problem is I'm currently having and if it's a sign that my laptop is already dying on me and needs repairs, even though it's still a year and a half old since I've gotten it. A side note is that I can hear scratchy sound near where the "esc" button as well and you can only hear it when there's no other sources of sound/noise in a room this sound I've keep hearing started since a few months and decided to ignore it since I didn't saw any bad side effects and also tried searching it on the net but to no avail on what's causing it.

Are you sure it´s the power light and not the battery indicator which is left to the power indicator?

I'm not sure what you meant by that. But by power light, I mean the blue light that's always there when you power it on and the right one besides it is the charging light when it's charging and that's always orange.

The sound could be the fan of the laptop, try cleaning the vent slots.

Also check the hard drive if it´s not a SDD with the manufacturer´s tool.


Have a look at this video, at the beginning you can see the two lights in the back. Left is blue, right is orange, constantly on. This should be normal, if the battery is charging and the charger is connected to the laptop.

If it´s fully charged, the orange light on the right will turn blue.

Yes, I'm talking about the blue light that's on the left and not the right one for when it's charge. The blue one turns to orange very visibly during when you turn the laptop on or when you wake it up from sleep mode. It'll either go orange for a few seconds and then goes back to blue for the rest of the time the laptop is on and sometimes the orange persists for some minutes switching back and forth from blue then to orange again then back to blue.

Yes, it still happens, but it goes back to blue more faster when it's charging.

Couldn´t find any feature documented in the manual for the power light changing. Eventually a BIOS update could solve the light changing. But if your laptop works fine for now, I don´t think you can do much about it.

Ah, I see. Thanks anyway. Hope it doesn't lead to anything that'll eventually marks the end of this machine.
