Hi to all,
I am having problems with my brand new Acer Aspire ES1-523 (Windows 10).
I wanted to disable EUFI Secure Boot in order to install Windows 7.
From the advanced startup options, I selected to change EUFI Firmware settings, then restarted the system.
The bios started up but I couldn't disable Secure Boot without changing the boot mode from EUFI to Legacy, so I decided to exit without making any changes.
The system started again with the bios.
At that point, I decided to change the boot mode from EUFI to Legacy version, saved the settings and restarted the system. Nothing changed. The bios started again.
Then I restored default settings by pressing F9, saved the settings and restarted the system. Nothing changed. The bios started again.
What's happened?
I hope that someone can help me.
Thanks a lot!
Matt

First and foremost, make sure that you make note to get a disk imager (i.e. Drive Cloner Rx or Acronis True Image) to run next time. ANY Bios changes should be done only after a backup's been done.

Anyways, you're only real option aside from having Acer replace the Motherboard is to do a hard reset.

1) Power off the laptop.
2) Unplug all the cables and USB devices
3) Remove the battery.
4) Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.
5) Insert the battery again and try booting the laptop

If this doesn't work, your MOBO needs replacing but try a hard reset first.

Hi,

thanks for your suggestions.

I will definitely try a hard reset. However it seems very strange that the MOBO got broken. Just before doing that procedure, the system worked perfectly.

I found for this laptop a new bios on Acer official site: about this update, it is written that
1. Resolve system hang up problem
2. Resolve system blue screen problem

In your opinion, could it resolve this situation?

Thanks again.

Hard to say, but worth a shot at least.

Did you solve your problem with that way? My acer with same model with you had same situation.
