Hey so a few years ago I upgraded my desktop (acer aspire m3985) to a gigabyte amd 7870 and its works just fine, but with the release of witcher 3 I feel somewhat lacking so I want to upgrade toa GTX 980, currently I have a 300W power supply and I know I have to upgrade to a 500W supply so I'm gonna upgrade my PSU to this one

And this is the GPU I'm getting:

That's all well and dandy but i read online that people were having problems upgrading to a gtx 770 because of bios problems, but I got the jist that this problem was confined to the gtx 700 series only, I was wondering whether you guys could help me out and tell me to go ahead or not?
If I am doing anything wrong please tell me and offer a solution if possible.

Do not buy that power supply. It's one of EVGA's worst models, I wouldn't use it with ANYTHING. Hell, I'd even pick my own CX430 (another awful power supply) over it.

Spend £15 more and get an XFX 550W. It's a tier 2 power supply, and is very quiet. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004RJ8EKI/?tag=pcp0f-21

What are the specs of your PC? The GTX 980 is one of the most powerful cards on the market, and therefore a high end processor (i5-4460 at least, nothing from AMD as of now) and at least 8GB of RAM should be recommended to run it.

Its running an intel 3770 but i dont think that'll be a problem its got 16gb of ram cause I do alot of photoshop work and digital painting;; To be honest worst case scenario if the motherboard it completely incompatible Il just but a new one and have the guys at my local pc store reinstall everything for me so I dont risk breaking things.

Thanks a bunch for the advice on the power supply
