Acer Aspire R14 (R3-471T-35G3) Black Screen, Fan Stops Spinning

Howdy,

I am attempting to troubleshoot my wife's Aspire R14. The laptop powers up, but the screen remains black and the fan stops spinning after about two seconds. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:

• 
  Attempted to boot without the battery
  Attempted to boot without the hard drive
  Attempted to boot without the memory stick
  Attempted to drain the charge and boot with and without the battery

Thus far, nothing has had an effect. The laptop continues to turn on, the screen stays black, and the fan turns off after two seconds in all cases.

If you have any ideas, short of standing on my head on the edge of a skyscraper, I'm willing to give it a shot at this point. Thanks!

Update 1: I can hear the hard drive continue to spin. The fan is the only thing that appears to stop, as all lights remain on, as well. Additionally, I am able to access the hard drive with a SATA-USB cable via another laptop.

Update 2: Unable to see the screen on an external monitor.

Update 3: Problem appears to either be GPU or motherboard. Will send to a repair center to have fixed.

Does the laptop have a video out you can plug into an external monitor or TV, to see if it's putting out a video signal?

Tested at a local computer shop. There is no video output when plugged into an external monitor. We agreed that we think it is probably the GPU or motherboard.
