Hi folks,

I want to upgrade my computers ram. I have done some research but I need some clarification. I have discovered my current ram (Kingston 2GB 2RX8 Pc3-106000U 9-10-BO) but cannot find this RAM available for sale, nor even on kingstons website. I have 8gb capacity max on motherboard, with 2x2gb currently, looking to add 2x2gb more. The manual lists some options suitable for acer aspire x3950:

DIMM Size: 1gb, 2gb
Pin: 240

Samsung:

- M378B2873EH1-CH9
- M378B2873FHS-CH9
- M378B5673EH1-CH9
- M378B5673FH0-CH9

Unifosa:

- GU502203EP0201
- GU512303EP0202

Apacer:

- 75.073C1.G02
- 75.A73C1.G02

I'm pretty sure the frequency is 1333Mhz. I did find a vendor on amazon that will ship the M378B5673EH1-CH9 to NZ I think. There is also some RAM I can use according to crucial scanner:

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/scanview/23F8970331D926C3

So a few questions relating to that:

a) Can I mix my kingstons with M378B5673EH1-CH9?
b) Are those RAM's listed on crucial.com mixable with my kingstons?
c) Can I buy something locally available (in NZ) as long as it's similar i.e. frequency, latency etc?

Thanks.

Specs:

Kingston 2GBx2GB 2RX8 Pc3-106000U 9-10-BO

220 WATT Delta PSU

Solution
the answer to a) and b) are no. Mixing RAM from different manufacturers is always a bad idea. So to be safe, I'd recommend buying a completely new set of RAM.
