Acer beep Problem

Hi

I have a problem with my acer aspire t180 desktop. Whenever i start it up or after i restart it, it beeps about 7 times then starts up. Anyone know what the problem is?

A few things i should mention is that Ive changed the processor to one that does work in the motherboard but it is not recognized by windows, but it is recognized by CPU-Z ect.

I installed an extra 1gb RAM. I would say this is the problem because it was fine when I added it but when I went to add a extra 1GB to the 1GB i had already installed it was the wrong type of RAM, when i put the ram that it came with back in the beeping started.

Any help would be appriciated as i can't afford to buy/build a new one at the moment

Acer uses Phoenix BIOS and here are the beep codes: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/phoenixbeep.htm

This will help solve the problem.

You may have to flash the bios for the cpu to recognize it.

Replace the cmos battery which could be shorting out and constantly resetting the bios. Very rare condition.

Shoot sorry thought I was posting for something different my advice is to remove cmos battery, short out the terminals to reset the cmos and try that with the original cpu.
