I have an Acer S7 laptop with Windows 10 installed.

75% of the time I attempt to enter 'Sleep' mode or shut down entirely, my computer hangs. The screen goes black (like it's powering down), but then never "fully" turns off. The LED indicating 'ON' remains on, and you can feel the laptop producing heat as usual when powered on.

It is non-responsive to any keystrokes or mouse movement/clicks. The only way I can either turn it back on or off is to hold the power button for 5 seconds and "force" it off.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Hi,

Try to change the Power Option of your PC that may do the trick.
- Open Power Options and click on Change plan settings then Change advanced power settings on the next screen.
- Expand Hard disk first then set Turn off hard disk after to Never.
- Expand Sleep and set Allow hyrbid sleep to OFF and set Hibernate after to NEVER.
- Click Apply and OK.
- Do open Device Manager next and set your keyboard and Mouse to wake up your PC.
- In Device Manager right click on Mouse/Keyboard and select Power Management.
- Make sure there's a check on Allow this device to wake the computer and click OK.
- Do test your PC again after doing all these changes.

Thanks Laptop_Nerd. Was hopeful these changes would fix the problem, but unfortunately, still encountering the same issue of "false sleep." The computer goes non-responsive and screen shuts off, but other hardware still clearly running.

Thanks for any other thoughts!
