My PC has an rtx 3060 and b660mobo with 16gb ram and nvme drive

I impulse bought the above monitor on sale but the pc can't seem to handle it and games are crashing randomly. When I check the CPU & RAM are running fine but the GPU is running at 100% all the time.

I then set it to 1920x1080 and 60hz and fired up an older game Skyrim Special Edition(that was crashing on the monitor's "full" settings. The game runs no problem BUT I'm getting occasional screen tearing. The gpu, cpu, & ram don't go above 41% usage so it's not the video card struggling I wouldn't think.

Is the monitor "complaining" because I'm forcing it to 1080p/60hz instead of it's natural state of 1440, 144 etc

Any ideas?

Thanks.

current temp is 43, don't have it under load.

I set the monitor back to the full 2560x1440 @ 144hz and could see tearing on the desktop with nothing running. I set it to 165hz, same thing. I set it down to 119 I believe and it's not doing it now. I'm only talking about the desktop/wallpaper.
