Hey Everyone,

I just want to thank this community for being awesome and helpful. I finally registered because I need your help.

I just recently bought an Acer GN276HL 144Hz monitor and hooked it up to my computer using the DVI cord provided. Supposedly this DVI cord that was provided is dual link however I am not able to get a refresh rate higher than 75Hz. I can only get this 75Hz refresh rate at 1280x1024 too when the recommended resolution is 1920x1080. I've tried in the display settings and the AMD catalyst control center to no avail. Also at the recommended resolution (1920x1080) there are many flashing green pixels. All this is even after installing the new driver for the monitor from the Acer website.

My build;

-Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming REV1
-AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz OC to 4.2GHz (I am upgrading to the AMD FX-8350 tomorrow).
-AMD Radeon HD 5570 (my GPU could be the problem. I'm also looking to upgrade my GPU in the near future mainly for CS:GO. Does anyone have any good suggestions for around $200-$300?)
-8 Gb HyperX Fury
-Windows 10

I've ordered a new DVI-D cable that I'll get Friday in hopes that it fixes it but I doubt it.

Any and all help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

The included cable is Dual-Link. Most likely the DVI port on the graphics card is only single-link.

The GPU uses a splitter that splits into 4 separate DVI-D connectors. I'm assuming that while the pin setup is in fact DVI-D, that 144Hz is not supported with the GPU since the cord running from the DVI connectors to the GPU says, "High Speed HDMI(tm) Cable".

"DVI-D" could be either Single-Link or Dual-Link, what you need is Dual-Link DVI. if it's using some kind of splitter and if there's HDMI involved then it's certainly a Single-Link DVI connection. Are there any actual DVI ports on the GPU?

Nope, no actual DVI ports on the GPU. The GPU only has a single output.

Here's the actual card https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129172

I see. You'll need a new card then, that one has a special multi-monitor breakout port, but only has adapters for Single-Link DVI.
