Had this monitor for a while now and been using it with DVI-D since DisplayPort never worked. I decided to give DP another try around a week ago and surprisingly it worked fine until today. When I came home and booted up my PC, it displayed an image until the Windows boot animation. After that everything went black and the monitor displayed the "No Signal" message. Any cable other than DP works fine.

Specs:
AMD FX-8320
GTX 960 4GB
ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
2x4gb generic 1600mhz ddr3
nvme ssd, sata ssd and sata hdd

Does the KG241 have a DP port or are you using an adapter from DP to HDMI?
or if it has one, do you use an adapter from the 960 to the monitor?
or is it connected directly with a DP to DP cable?

Is it the one with 144Hz? Acer KG1 KG241Pbmidpx

Is the motherboard on the latest BIOS version? https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970 Pro3 R2.0/#BIOS
The monitor does have a DP port and I am using a DP to DP cable.
It is the 144Hz variant.
The motherboard is on the latest bios.

Could be the cable, the GPU or the monitor

replace the cable or try plugging it in more tightly, sometimes the GPU´s connections are not in the middle of the ATX cover of the case and therefore cable plugs can´t be connected completely to it.

Other than that, if the DVI cable works fine, there wouldn´t be a disadvantage using this connection.

True, the only disadvantage to using DVI and not DP is I have to "overclock" the monitor to achieve 144Hz as 120Hz is the "maximum" for this monitor over DVI. Only DP supports 144Hz according to the user guide.
