Question Acer laptop only boots if I let it sit for a couple of months!

Powering up, the fan runs and no display, no boot. No key sequence does any good. There is no CMOS reset button. Removed the coin cell and shorted its contacts. Still no good. This problem got progressively worse over a few months. The last time it was able to start, I had let it sit 2 or 3 months with the main battery removed. Does anyone understand this problem? Thanks!

Have you tried a new CMOS battery?
If not, I would do that next.

Good idea. I did and it didn't help! Any other ideas?
