I have an Acer H274HLBMID monitor i bought new from newegg in 2012. Recently over the last 12 months i have noticed a buzzing sound coming from the DC connection on the back of the monitor. At first i thought it was possibly the speakers, so i turned them off and nothing changed, still heard the buzzing sound.

I changed the refresh rate from 62 to 50 hertz and noticed an improvement, but this only lasted about 4 months.

I notice that it's the loudest when i restart my computer or turn the monitor on for the first time and the screen is mostly black with the Acer logo across the center of the screen preparing to boot into windows. The buzzing sound occurs when I'm either watching 720p or 1080p video, high def images, lots of black images on the screen like a wallpaper image of a city skyline at night, or heavy graphic intensive games.

I'm running an intel i7 3820 Sandy with a GTX 580, 32GB RAM, Asus rampage motherboard, 256gb SSD boot drive and a 850wt Corsair PSU.

If anyone can help me figure out what's causing this sound and how to resolve it i would be extremely thankful.

So the buzzing sound is loudest when it has the most power going through it. This explains why when you lowered the refresh rate it went down.

It sounds like to me the monitor has a bad power related issue. Does it plug directly into the wall or does it has a pack at the end and then it plugs in the wall?

dc power cord from monitor to > pack > pack into wall. I replaced the entire power cord and pack and nothing changed. I also plugged the monitor into a different outlet and still the same problem.

I would actually not be able to tell you and places that fix monitors (at least in LA) are rare. My best advice would be to take it to a specialist who can open it up and look at it.
