Note that since consumer prices in the EU must always include the value added tax, the prices become a bit more agreeable (to people outside EU) once you factor it out:

€943.50 (incl. 20% VAT; the Slovakian standard rate) / 1.20
= €786.25 (tax-free)
= $876.94 US (tax-free)
 
Also, it seems Tom's Hardware is using a conversion rate of about 1.168 USD/EUR, whereas my bank currently offers 1.11534 USD/EUR? Are the rates over in the US really that bad?
