Question Acer Nitro5 laptop to external monitor 60 hz

Hi there, i have a acer nitro 5 laptop, with a nvidia 3060 graphics card, when i connect it to my external monitor which is a benq xl2720z via HDMI, it will not allow me to go 1920x1080, the lowest res i can use with a higher refresh rate is 1280x720, but that isnt full screen on the monitor, I purchased a DP to hdmi adaptor, but that doesnt seem to work, is there anything else I can do? Im guessing the monitor doesnt support 120 - 144hz @ 1080p via HDMI? please help

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to read through the datasheet for your monitor, here, you won't get 144Hz off of HDMI, more like with an DVI-D DL adapter or a DP connection.

Mind sharing a link to the adapter you purchased? As for your laptop, mind sharing an SKU to it?
