Sounds like a Power Supply failure, perhaps capacitors. If you're handy with a soldering iron, replacing capacitors is cheap and relatively simple. Equally, should not cost much to get fixed by a repair guy.

If the problem is not a result of a fault on your part, before you start trying to get it fixed yourself, you should consider returning it to the dealer -- even outside warranty because these products should long outlast any normal warranty period.
