Hello everyone, I have a relatively new laptop that recently has been having drops in frame rate. I am not that tech savvy, so don't know how to troubleshoot and fix this. I'm in the process of getting ready to do a factory reset in hopes of the problem going away, but hopefully someone can shed some light that will prevent me from doing that. Thank you in advance!
The problem began while I was playing a game notorious for being poorly optimized: Blade & Soul. The game was barely playable sometimes but I put in long hours nonetheless. I encountered a problem that my laptop is known for while playing one time: poor power adapter not providing enough juice. When I have encountered this problem in the past, I simply stop playing for a few hours and watch shows instead, leaving the laptop plugged in until it eventually fixes itself. The laptop will keep switching between power saving and performance mode while having this issue, and it'll take a very long time to charge from 95% to 100% battery. I purchased a new power adapter to prevent this issue in the future, however... I haven't experienced this power problem since then! This is when I noticed my frame rate problems. Games I've played before at max settings at 100 fps now randomly will have terrible, noticeable spikes during game play. One such game is an old PS3 era game, which should be completely unacceptable, the computer has a GTX 1080 for crying out loud!
I have no idea how to troubleshoot and diagnose these problems. I'm sorry to say I could use a little hand holding here. I would love it if there's some program out there that just checks what you have installed and tests it to see that it is running to spec. I also would like advice on overclocking in the future after fixing this. The only thing I notice on my computer that mentions that is "PredatorSense" which I haven't really tried playing with. Thank you again for any help and for bearing with me.
